Role of the Lay Committee What is a Lay Committee? a group of 4-8 persons from the congregation who together have agreed to be a significant part of a student pastor's supervision team. a group covenanted to help a student pastor review her/his progress, evaluate her/his skills, reflect on her/his ministry, and analyze her/his abilities. a group working together with a student pastor to strengthen and give a more holistic view of her/his ministry. from Exper9441
