  3. Why Join Cub Scouts? • Your time is valuable • Your son wants to belong to a group of boys his own age • Teaches “Do your best” and be helpful to others • 4. Teaches/Reinforces family values

  4. How does Cub Scouting work? • Family is the basis of Cub Scouting • Cub Scouts support the family and enrich family time together • Advancement adding to positive self esteem • Badges and recognition that he can wear on his uniform • Cub Scouting takes place in two levels. Den and Pack levels

  5. Tiger Den • 1st Grade • 6/7 years old (Parents are most involved) • Den Leader • Three to eight parent son teams • 2 – Den meetings per month • 1 - “Go See It” • 1 Pack meeting

  6. Wolf Den • 2nd Grade • 7/8 years old • Den Leader • 4 to 8 boys • Meet once a week at regularly scheduled time and place • Pack meeting with their families

  7. Bear Den • 3rd Grade • 8/9 years old • Den Leader • 4 to 8 boys • Meet once a week at regularly scheduled time and place • Pack meeting with their families

  8. Webelos Scout Den • 4th and 5th Grade • Much like the Cub Scout Dens, but there is more emphasis on the boys learning to take a leadership roles and preparing to become Boys Scouts.

  9. Pack Meetings • The climax of the Den meetings • Games, Skits, Songs, ceremonies and presentations of badges and awards • The whole family see the scouts achievements • Special Events such as the Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold banquet, Camping • Service Projects, field trips and special outings

  10. How can you help? • Den Leaders • Assistant Den Leaders • Treasurers • Public Relations (Newsletter) • Events Chairperson • Secretary

  11. What does it cost to sign up? • $85.00 sign up includes: • Annual subscription to Boys Life Magazine • Annual registration with National BSA which provides full insurance during any scouting related event. • Most Pack events are subsidized • Pack 583 “T” shirt • Awards, Patches and Belt loops • You must purchase uniform shirt and Pants
