3. How to Apply for Financial Aid Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
The Financial Aid Application can be completed anytime after Jan 1st.
Early applicants are awarded early, and will be considered for more types of aid. 3
4. Tools Required to Apply for Aid PIN number is needed to sign your application electronically go to www.pin.ed.gov
Completed 2008 Federal Income Tax Return (1040/ 1040A/1040EZ) for yourself and your spouse (if married), and your parents (if dependent).
Verification of Veterans Benefits received in 2008.

5. Things to Remember Use your PIN number to sign your application
Print the FAFSA Summary of your application
Print the Confirmation Page to assure your application has been sent to the Processor
Keep a copy of your Federal Tax Return for future reference

6. Verification & C-Codes(Issues to be Resolved) Students are selected for verification and
C-codes by the Federal Processor.
Verification is a process that compares information on the FAFSA with the information on your Federal Tax Return.
C-Codes are proof of:
Citizenship
Selective Service Registration
Social Security Number/Data Matches
Defaulted Student Loan Status

7. Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) To receive financial aid all students must meet the SAP guidelines as required by the Federal Government, and that includes:
A reasonable timeframe for completion of an Associates Degree and/or certificate.
At BCCC you must have a minimum 2.0 GPA after having attempted 48 or more credits.
Federal Student Aid will not pay for more than 30 hours of remedial /developmental courses. 7
8. Repeat Course Policy If a student repeats a class twice that was paid for by financial aid, the student must assume the cost of tuition and fees for the third attempt.
A student may repeat a course once and receive financial aid only if the student has not received a grade of “C” or better.

9. Withdrawals & Financial Aid Withdrawal from classes or stop attending classes have an impact on the amount of financial aid received , and the amount that the student may have to be pay.
Withdrawal from classes before the end of the 3rd week of the semester will result in an adjustment to the original awarded financial aid.
Total withdrawal from ALL classes before the end of the 9th week of the semester may result in the loss of all awarded financial or a portion of the aid.
(Accelerated Courses – the same rules apply, but the timeframes vary)

Click on Financial Aid to view your financial aid award, and to find if any required documents are missing,
Enter Student ID (social security number) no dashes
Enter Student PIN Number (birth month & birth year i.e. May 19, 1986 = 0586)
