  1. Does 5-star AC really save electricity? Air conditioners have become an integral part of homes and offices, providing much-needed relief from the sweltering heat during summers. However, they also lead to inflated electricity bills, which is why the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) introduced a star rating system to help consumers make informed decisions. But does 5-star AC really save electricity? Let's find out. What is a 5-star AC? The star rating indicates the energy efficiency level of an air conditioner. The more the stars, the more efficient the AC is. A 5 star AC is the most energy- efficient, implying lower electricity consumption compared to 1, 2, 3 or 4-star ACs. To earn a 5-star rating, an AC needs to meet rigorous BEE standards of high energy efficiency ratio (EER) and low power input. For instance, a 1-ton split inverter AC must have an EER of 3.50 or more and a power input less than 1090 Watts to qualify as 5-star rated. How does a 5-star AC save electricity? Inverter compressor: 5-star ACs come with inverter compressors that regulate power based on the heat load, saving up to 30% electricity over non-inverters. Smart sensors: Intelligent sensors detect room temperature and adjust cooling accordingly, preventing unnecessary electricity wastage. Advanced coils: Improved condenser and evaporator coils with anti- corrosive blue fin coating transmit heat faster, enhancing energy savings. Eco mode: The eco mode minimizes power consumption by regulating AC functioning to match weather conditions and usage patterns.

  2. Low power start-up: 5-star ACs restart smoothly after power cuts, avoiding high start-up electricity demands. Cost savings from 5-star AC Consider a small household with an annual AC usage of 1000 units. With a 1.5 ton non inverter AC priceof ₹4.5 per unit, the yearly bill amounts to ₹4,500. Upgrading to an energy-efficient 5 star inverter split AC with 30% lower consumption could reduce the bill to ₹3,150, translating into yearly savings of ₹1,350. Moreover, despite the higher upfront costs of 5-star ACs, the savings continue for over 10 years making them economical long-term. For example, a 1-ton split inverter AC price may be ₹35,000 but it returns the investment in under 3 years through lower bills. Conclusion So in conclusion, investing in a 5-star rated inverter AC not only saves electricity through smart technology but also offers great cost benefits. With rising temperatures and electricity tariffs, a 5-star AC provides welcome relief on both counts over its lifespan.
