  1. GAUTAM ADANI’S VISION AND STRATEGY FOR CREATING A STATE-OF-THE-ART WORLD-CLASS CITY IN DHARAVI

  2. Dharavi is one of the largest and most densely populated slums in Asia, located in the heart of Mumbai, India. It is home to about one million people and thousands of businesses, mostly in informal and unregulated sectors such as recycling, pottery, leather, textiles, and food processing. Dharavi is also a hub of social and cultural diversity, with people from different religions, castes, languages, and regions living harmoniously.

  3. 'I intend to transform Dharavi into a modern city hub by looking at ways and means to support and strengthen existing micro-enterprises and small industries and by promoting new-age jobs with a special focus on youth and women. This will be achieved using a multi-pronged strategy with the help of sectoral experts and civil society. It could be a combination of training centres focused on upskilling, common facility centres for product-based as well as service-based entrepreneurship models, R&D centres, data centres, MSME help desks, etc. Another important element could be the creation of organised and systemic marketplaces in line with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)', says Gautam Adani, the man with the Midas touch.

  4. Adani's Vision of Dharavi's Transformation Gautam Adani, the chairman and founder of the Adani Group, one of India's largest conglomerates interested in energy, ports, logistics, mining, agribusiness, and airports dreams of transforming Asia’s largest slum via his Adani Dharavi project. He envisions to turn Dharavi into a state-of-the-art, world-class city that will provide its inhabitants with a dignified and prosperous life and contribute to Mumbai and India's economic and social development.

  5. The mission to change Dharavi has been ongoing for almost fifty years. This time, clever adjustments to the tender's design made in light of prior experience helped to guarantee bidder participation and the tender's successful conclusion of the Adani Dharavi project. For instance, the rehabilitation of ineligible renters was the focus of this tender. Additionally, including 45 acres of railway land next to Dharavi makes in-situ relocation and project start on day zero possible.
