  1. Gautam Adani intends to turn a Mumbai slum Dharavi into an innovative city hub

  2. Dharavi, one of Asia's largest slums in the center of Mumbai, has long been a focal point of discussion about urban growth and improving living conditions of over 1 million people. The Adani Dharavi project, led by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, aims to transform Dharavi, one of Asia's biggest slums in Mumbai's heart, into a contemporary city hub. According to Adani's website, the reconstruction would provide them with gas, water, drainage, healthcare, and other utilities. The project's design and implementation are enormous in both scale and dimensions. They are also aware that the project will put their resilience, capacity, and execution abilities to the ultimate test. Dharavi redevelopment was initially proposed in the 1980s as a solution to develop valuable property while also providing adequate accommodation for individuals who lived there.

  3. The Adani Dharavi redevelopment project is Gautam Adani’s personal commitment With Adani Dharavi project, Gautam Adani wants to transform Dharavi into a contemporary city hub. The people of Dharavi will not only be able to witness their homes being built in front of their eyes, but they will also be able to shape them. The agony of inadequacy will fade away like a forgotten memory. In its stead, a new Dharavi will buzz with pride. Aside from relocating, sustaining one's livelihood is a major problem. He plans to develop Dharavi into a contemporary city hub by exploring methods to promote and enhance current micro and small industries and encouraging new-age occupations with a specific emphasis on youth and women. This will be accomplished through a multi-pronged strategy aided by sectoral specialists and civic society.

  4. The Adani Dharavi project aims to support small industries and promoting new jobs Gautam Adani, CEO of the Adani Group, stated that after winning the right to rehabilitate the region, he plans to convert Dharavi into a contemporary metropolitan hub by helping small enterprises and creating new jobs geared towards young people and women. The reconstruction might involve the establishment of training centers and data, research, and development centers. The billionaire intends to establish an organized marketplace by India's Open Network for Digital Commerce (a government-backed project to revolutionize India's digital commerce environment). Only people who resided in Dharavi before 2000, largely on the bottom level, were eligible for free dwellings under the Adani Dharavi redevelopment plan. The government determined that about 700,000 residents of mezzanine and above levels were ineligible and would be assigned homes up to 10 km away, which they believe may compel them to pay upfront expenditures or higher rentals.

  5. Adani Dharavi is the newest mega-project undertaken by Adani Group, a port-to-energy conglomerate The Adani Group is a port-to-energy company that provides power to Mumbai. The reconstruction of the Dharavi slum in downtown Mumbai is the Adani Group's most recent mega-project. The Adani Dharavi project entails the reconstruction of the 259-hectare slum sprawl. Adani Properties, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, has formed a joint venture with Mumbai's slum rehabilitation department to rehabilitate the Dharavi slum. The project will impact Mumbai and the political environment in the long term.
