The demand for nutritious, wholesome, accessible, and affordable food continues to increase due to rising demands from a growing population, rising urbanization, changes in consumption, and consumer preferences. Adoption of sustainable agricultural practices clearly targets "A world free of poverty, hunger, disease, and basic needs where food is sufficient, safe, affordable, and nutritious" which is the objective of the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development (FAO, 2020). The global agricultural landscape is overwhelmingly characterized by smallholder farmers, who constitute a substantial 80% of the total farming population (Connor et al. 2023). This demographic plays a pivotal role in on-farm food production, making their well-being crucial for both household sustenance and economic stability. These smallholders predominantly rely on agriculture not only as a source of food but also as a primary income generator. Consequently, ensuring the prosperity and resilience of smallholder farming communities is imperative not only for addressing food security concerns but also for optimizing co-benefits for production of nutrient-dense crops. Women contribute immensely to the agricultural value chain for the production of diverse crops for the nourishing majority of households; therefore, the utilization of women's participation in agricultural practices can substantially enhance local livelihoods and also contribute to broader global nutritional goals by producing nutrient-rich crops.
