  1. Technology Platforms The cutting-edge technology platforms at MicrobioSeq deliver a wide range of microbial genomics solutions to laboratories, companies, and healthcare organizations, and accelerates scientific research and industries across diverse sectors, including microbiology, health, agriculture, aquaculture, environment, forestry, energy, and mining. With extensive experience and knowledge in microbiome, we have strong expertise in exploring the taxonomic composition of microbial communities or the genomic sequences of a certain microbial strain by utilizing genomics, transcriptomics, and other molecular biology methods at cell, strain, or community level. Our integrated technology platforms for microbial genomics includes: MICROBIAL DIVERSITY ANALYSIS PLATFORM The microbial diversity analysis platform at MicrobioSeq identifies taxonomic composition of microbial communities in an efficient and confidential way. 16S/18S/ITS, as the molecular marker for microbes, has enough resolution for microbial identification, which is the principle of this platform. Illumina HiSeq, PacBio SMRT sequencing, and quantitative PCR technologies are recruited for the detection and quantification of 16S/18S/ITS. This platform allows us to perform clinical, environmental, and agricultural sample analysis. LEARN MORE

  2. METAGENOMICS PLATFORM Metagenomics is the study of all genetic material recovered directly from microbial communities, without the need to isolate and culture individual species. The metagenomics platform at MicrobioSeq investigates composition and structure of microbial communities; the interactions of these microorganisms with each other, hosts; and the evolution of these interactions. This platform allows us to screen a variety of microbial strains for specific traits and characteristics that benefit humans, plants, animals, or environments. LEARN MORE METATRANSCRIPTOMICS PLATFORM

  3. The metatranscriptomics platform at MicrobioSeq investigates the function and activity of the complete set of transcripts from environmental samples on a global scale by utilizing both short-read sequencing and full-length transcript sequencing. It tells us what kinds of microbes are present, gene activity diversity, gene expression abundance, and enables differential gene expression analysis. Compared with metagenomics, metatranscriptomics can reveal not only the genetic content of bacterial populations, but also details about populations that are transcriptionally active. LEARN MORE MICROBIAL WHOLE GENOME SEQUENCING PLATFORM Our microbial whole genome sequencing platform is dedicated to mapping genomes of novel microorganisms, completing genomes of known organisms, and comparing genomes across samples. Compared with traditional methods, the high-throughput sequencing technology is capable of acquiring bacterial/fungal/viral whole-genome in a more efficient and economic manner. For most microorganisms, closed genomes and plasmids can be assembled using PacBio data from single libraries in a single run. LEARN MORE

  4. PROKARYOTIC RNA SEQUENCING PLATFORM The prokaryotic RNA sequencing platform is an important tool for surveying the entire transcriptomes of microbial strains, identifying putative transcriptional start sites, and defining operons and ncRNAs. RNA sequencing in combination with coimmunoprecipitation is powerful to explore interactions involved in post-transcriptional regulation. Additionally, prokaryotic transcriptome sequencing provides standardized reference transcriptome to clinically and environmentally important microbial phyla and allows comparative transcriptomics. LEARN MORE MICROBIAL IDENTIFICATION PLATFROM

  5. Microbial identification platform at MicrobioSeq is dedicated to supporting environmental monitoring, contamination investigation, raw materials testing, root cause analysis, and microbial identification in clinics, laboratories, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and product and process safety. Bacteria, fungi, and yeast are identified based on the comparative gene sequence analysis of ribosomal DNA (16S for bacteria, LSU-D2/ITS for fungi and yeast). Illumina MiSeq/HiSeq and PacBio SMRT instruments are available for automated, accurate, fast microbial identification, and have the ability to process multiple samples simultaneously. LEARN MORE Our primary high-throughput sequencing platforms include PacBio SMRT, illumina HiSeq, and Roche 454 instruments. Next-generation sequencing technology is characterized by high throughput and accuracy, and has revolutionized genomics research. However, short reads generated by Illumina HiSeq/Roche 454 rarely cover a gene of interest and pose a challenge to genome assembly. To solve this dilemma, PacBio SMRT systems are developed and generate reads in 1-3 Kb range, with >99.999% high consensus accuracy. By utilizing both PacBio and next-generation sequencing technology, MicrobioSeq has strong expertise in detecting rare community members (as low as 0.00001%), and de novo assembly in a fast, efficient, and accurate way. •
