  1. 5 Tips for Group Discussion for MBA Admissions GD process is often used for selection of deserving candidates for admission into management programs in universities and B-schools. This includes a group of a small number of candidates. The topic can be either pretty specific or largely or largely general and can be from any walk of life. One needs to have skills, knowledge and confidence to boost the chances of getting admissions into the desired institute or program. The few tips for qualifying or cracking a GD are: •Knowledge is important: Having knowledge about a particular topic plays a pivotal role in having a triumph over your components. The best way to go about the objective is to read widely apart from being aware of what’s going around in the world. •Enhance your communication skills: Being able to communicate effectively is another crucial aspect that you will be judged in during a group discussion. Simply put, there’s no use of being an all-knowing expert on the given topic if you cannot express that knowledge effectively during the GD. In order to boost your communication skills, one must try and build a rich vocabulary in addition to a strong command over English. •Enhance your listening skills: One needs to be a good listener apart from being a good speaker. Setting up a balance between the two forms the key for a good group discussion. One must acknowledge the opponents’ comments and ideas in accordance with your stand and position in the debate.

  2. •Control your body gestures: Body gestures speak a lot about a person’s state of mind. One must be careful with the impressions one portrays in front of the judges and fellow players. •Timing of speaking is important: Being the first as well as last to speak always help. It’s really incredible if you can initiate the group discussion yourself - that would exhibit your leadership qualities. Similarly, being the last to speak may also earn you some extra brownie points. Visit the website of Asia Pacific Institute of Management for more information.
