  2. Qualifications for IAS exam As per the Indian Civil Service norms, there are specific eligibility criteria that a candidate needs to follow to appear for the exam. The candidate has to be between 21 to 32 years of age to get qualified. However, there is relaxation of age depending on the category you belong to. The upper age limit is 32 years for general candidates, while for OBC and physically challenged candidates, it is 35 years. Ex-servicemen and SC/ST candidates can also apply for the IAS exam until the age of 37. For persons belonging to the economically weaker sections of society, the upper age limit is 42 years.

  3. Every candidate has to have a graduation degree. The candidates belonging to the general category can sit for the IAS exam six times. On the other hand, OBC, SC, ST, physically challenged, ex-servicemen, and people belonging to the weaker sections of the society can sit for the exams nine times. Further, the candidate must acquire a degree from a university recognized by the government or its equivalent. Those who have not yet received the results of the final year can also apply for the IAS exam, provided he or she submits the results or an equivalent proof in the IAS Mains. All candidates applying for the UPSC have to be Indian by nationality.
